Chetan Shridhar

I design enterprise products, and increasingly, I design for AI and build with it.

Principal UX Designer

20 years of making expert tools usable, across fintech, cloud security and CDN. Today I work on a private credit decision and underwriting platform, where analysts and investment managers make lending decisions with AI.

Designing AI, building with AI

I design AI for experts making high-stakes decisions, and I build with AI every day, knowing where it shouldn’t have the final say.

Designing AI

AI chat tool
An AI chat-first workspace for financial analysts and investment managers, with the ability to add skills and project spaces, and a home screen for each role that leads with what needs doing.
AI assistant
Contextual help across a private credit platform, from origination through underwriting to monitoring.
Generative UI
AI-generated screens built from our component library and served by our MCP connectors, so they look like our product in our chat app and in Claude.
Keeping a human in the decision
When AI is usually right, experts grow complacent. So during reviews, the AI asks them questions, designed with data science, that make them think before accepting its output.

Building with AI

MCP apps
Screens generated with AI, 300–500% more than I could design by hand, filled with real data from the staging environment, so we review how it actually looks.
Design system in sync
We use Claude to turn Figma specs into Storybook components and add new variants back to Figma, so the two stay in sync. Front-end engineers review every change.
Rules for the AI
Written into each project so it uses only our design tokens and existing components, never one-off colours or components we haven’t built. User flows I still check against research myself.
Learning from generated UI
We watch which answers users want as UI and which as text, and turn new patterns from generated screens into standard components.

About

Chetan Shridhar

A fine balance

I keep making the case for the version people can use, and I know which battles the business and engineering can afford. When a deadline means setting a principle aside, I say so and note the cost.

Self-taught

I’m self-taught. I started out colouring classic Spider-Man and Hulk comics on a Mac and teaching design tools, and learned UX on the job, shipping enterprise products alongside the PMs and engineers I worked with. Learning that way taught me to pick up a new domain fast, from CDN and cloud security to private credit and AI.
